Maryland Manufacturing Assets Deployed for Energy 4.0 (Maryland MADE 4.0) is a program designed to support the growth and advancement of Maryland’s manufacturing sector. The objective of the program is to educate, inform and assist manufacturers with the adoption and deployment of smart manufacturing and high-performance manufacturing technologies that will increase energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and enable lasting improvements.
Maryland MADE 4.0 is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) and delivered in partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce and the Maryland MEP.
The program will include a series of educational events, technical and financial assistance support and training designed to encourage manufacturers to adopt and implement advanced manufacturing technologies that are more energy-efficient and enable long-term improvements.
What is Smart Manufacturing?
Smart manufacturing is a technology-driven approach to coordinate physical and digital processes within factories and across the manufacturing supply chain. The goal of Smart Manufacturing is to identify opportunities for automating operations and use data analytics to improve manufacturing performance. The Maryland MADE 4.0 Program is designed to take a broad approach to assist manufacturers in identifying and implementing new technologies, these technologies may include but are not limited to the following:
- Digital Twins/Simulation
- Horizontal/Vertical Software Integration
- Industrial Internet/Sensors
- Cybersecurity
- Cloud/IT Data Processing/Storage
- Additive Manufacturing
- Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality
- Robots/Collaborative Robots (Cobots)/Automation
- Big Data & Analytics/Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
- ERP/MRP and Other Information Systems
Maryland MEP aims to help you accelerate the adoption of these technologies through an approach that will; provide education on the potential impacts and benefits of smart manufacturing technologies, help identify and evaluate new technologies through assessments and technical assistance, provide financial and technical assistance to implement new technologies, and improve outcomes through training and ongoing support.
