Maryland Manufacturing Tech Day in Annapolis!

On February 23rd, the Maryland MEP and RMI of Maryland team celebrated Maryland Manufacturing Day in Annapolis! Highlighting the importance of manufacturing within Maryland’s economy, we met with more than 50 legislators to demonstrate how Industry 4.0 technologies can transform our industry. Legislators were digitally scanned by Direct Dimensions, which will then be used to create a 3D-printed bust by the Terrapin Works team at the University of Maryland! Additionally, attendees posed for photos with famous mascots, sea turtles, and professional athletes such as Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, by way of Squad Snaps – an augmented reality photo booth created by American Bully Manufacturing LLC and Balti Virtual!

Additionally, we were joined by Lynda Hefner, President of Clark Machine, along with two of her employees, Tevin and Henry Hanks. Tevin and Henry are twin brothers from Baltimore, MD and graduates of Maryland MEP’s 2018 Manufacturing Boot Camp, where they went through basic manufacturing and job readiness training, to then apply for a career in manufacturing. Prior to beginning employment at Clark Machine, both Tevin and Henry had periods of unemployment, homelessness and struggled to obtain meaningful jobs.

Manufacturing provides opportunities for employment for all individuals, regardless of race, gender, education, or experience. Tevin and Henry are examples of how Maryland MEP’s programs and services continue to impact lives.
