Success Story: Hardwire Strengthens Cybersecurity Awareness and Workforce Readiness Through Maryland MEP Partnership

The Situation:

Hardwire, LLC, located in Pocomoke City, Maryland, is a leading advanced manufacturer of protective armor systems for military, law enforcement, and civilian applications. Operating in a highly regulated environment, Hardwire prioritizes data security, operational integrity, and compliance to support mission-critical work and maintain customer trust. As cybersecurity threats continue to rise—particularly within defense supply chains—Hardwire identified the need to strengthen its internal awareness and risk mitigation practices. With a growing workforce and increasing reliance on digital communication systems, Hardwire recognized the importance of equipping employees with the knowledge and tools needed to identify and prevent cyber threats such as phishing, email compromise, and data breaches.

The Solution:

The company saw an opportunity to build a more proactive, security-conscious culture while reinforcing compliance and protecting sensitive information. Hardwire partnered with Maryland MEP and CORVID Cyberdefense to deliver a comprehensive cybersecurity awareness training program. The program trained 110 full-time employees on practical topics including email security, threat recognition, and risk prevention. The training emphasized real-world scenarios, enabling employees to confidently identify and respond to potential threats. The project team provided full project coordination and oversight, ensuring the program aligned with Hardwire’s operational priorities and workforce development goals. As a result of the training, Hardwire strengthened its cybersecurity posture and enhanced workforce readiness. Employees are better equipped to recognize and prevent potential threats, supporting a more resilient and secure operation.

“Hardwire is grateful for its partnership with Maryland MEP – this cybersecurity training initiative is just one of many tangible benefits of our teamwork.  Maryland MEP is a relevant and engaged organization that continues to benefit all our state’s manufacturers.  We ask our state and local leaders to continue their support for Maryland MEP – they roll up their sleeves and get to work with Maryland manufacturers!”
