Maryland MEP Celebrates Maryland Manufacturing Through Manufacturing 250 Initiative
As part of a collaborative campaign across the original thirteen colonies, Maryland MEP is celebrating Maryland’s manufacturing heritage while highlighting the companies shaping its future.
COLUMBIA, Md., June 29, 2026 — When America marks its 250th anniversary in 2026, Maryland MEP is ensuring Maryland’s manufacturing story is part of the celebration. Through Manufacturing 250 (MFG250), the organization will showcase the people, companies, and innovations that have helped shape Maryland’s economy from the state’s earliest industries to today’s advanced manufacturers.
By sharing company stories, historical milestones, archival and contemporary photography, and modern achievements, the campaign will celebrate Maryland’s contributions to American manufacturing while inspiring the next generation of innovation.
“[Manufacturing is] in every county in Maryland. They’re in every community in the country, and behind those industrial parks we’ve got makers and manufacturers that are producing really cool things that we use in our everyday lives….Manufacturing has always been a part of Maryland, and I think it’s a big part of where Maryland is going in the future, and it’s going to be a big part of our economic success in the future,” said Mike Kelleher, CEO of Maryland MEP.
For more than two centuries, manufacturing has played a vital role in Maryland’s economy. From historic mills and shipyards to today’s leaders in aerospace, biotechnology, food production, defense, advanced materials, and smart manufacturing, Maryland manufacturers continue to drive innovation, create jobs, and strengthen communities across the state.
The initiative also invites manufacturers to share their own stories, milestones, and visions for the future, creating a statewide collection that honors Maryland’s contributions to American manufacturing while inspiring the next generation of innovators.
