BEYOND HR – WEBINARS TO HELP MANUFACTURERS REMAIN OPEN!

The Client:

Founded in 1973, Canam Steel USA Corporation (CSC) is a service-oriented manufacturing company that manufactures open web steel joists and a variety of steel deck products. Employing over 150 at their Point of Rocks, MD location, Canam Steel USA is part of a large global steel producer.

The Challenge:

COVID-19 has presented companies with never-before seen challenges, regulations, requirements and an overall concern for the safety of workers, families and team members. As a critical manufacturer for the construction supply industry, Canam Steel USA sought the help of MD MEP, part of the MEP National Network™, to assist with providing guidance on re-opening and how to operate safely in a changed environment. Understanding the latest and often changing rules and regulations has been challenging for many companies and Canam Steel USA sought the assistance of MD MEP to help understand and implement these requirements safely and effectively in the facility.

The Solution:

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, MD MEP created a Critical Manufacturing Webinar series titled “Beyond HR” designed to provide information and guidance to manufacturers on the latest rules, regulations and requirements related to HR, OSHA and CDC compliance as well as best practices related to keeping employees and the workforce safe during the pandemic. CSC Steel USA’s human resources leadership attended each of these webinars providing OSHA regulations, HR guidance and policy best practices.

These webinars provided participants including Canam Steel USA with direct training, guidance on the latest rules and regulations, tools, templates and best practices and the opportunity to engage with and ask questions from MD MEP’s industry experts.

Results & Impacts:

MD MEP’s "Beyond HR" webinar series has provided Canam Steel USA with invaluable information as well as guidance on how to implement the latest requirements of OSHA and CDC. This has helped us remain open and operating through the pandemic and we are thankful for the support.
